Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV is a service that allows you to watch Astro Channels using a high-speed fibre internet connection rather than a satellite dish. This would enable you to overcome certain limitations associated with the use of satellite dish such as interrupted viewing due to weather and inability to access HD content in certain high-rise buildings.

Additionally, you would be able to use the super-fast high-speed fibre connection to surf the internet, enjoy lag-free gaming and more.

I live in a high-rise building, are there limitations to how I enjoy Maxis Fibre Internet with IPTV service?

All landed properties and high-rise buildings within the coverage area can enjoy the service with internet speed of 10Mbps. All landed properties and only selected high-rise buildings within the coverage area can enjoy the service with higher internet speeds of 20Mbps or 30Mbps. What happens after I have signed up for the service?

If your application is successful, we will contact you within 5 days of your registration to make an appointment for installation. We will also notify you if your registration is not successful.

Is there a deposit required?

No, it is not.

What devices do I get once I subscribe to this service?
  • 1 unit of Residential WiFi Modem
  • 1 unit of Optical Network Terminal or 1 Broadband Termination Unit
  • 1 unit of Astro PVR decoder and remote control each
  • 1 unit of Astro Out-door Unit satellite dish if you reside in a landed property on selected network.

Is there a contract? If yes, how long?

The contract period is 24 months. Should you discontinue the service before the contract expires, there will be a penalty of RM2,400 pro-rated to the number of remaining months in the contract.

How many bills will I receive?

You will receive a single bill issued by Astro for both your Maxis Fibre Internet and Astro IPTV service.

If you were to subscribe to the optional Home Voice service, then you will receive an additional bill for the voice service only from Maxis as well.

Can I pay the advance payment of 6 or 12 months by cash?

You will be billed for 6 or 12 months’ subscription fees if you choose to make an advance payment, which you can settle by cash, cheque, internet bank transfer or credit card. Please see the full list of payment modes at http://support.astro.com.my/HelpCenter or refer to the back of your physical bill. Please note that we do not accept cash upfront at the point of registration.

What will I see on my bill?

How do I view my bills online?

To enjoy the convenience of E-billing, opt for E-billing at the point of registration. If you did not opt for E-billing at point of registration, you can register for E-billing at www.astro.com.my. Just create an Astro ID and link it to your Astro account using your Astro Smart Card Number.

When will billing for Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV commence?

Billing will take effect once the Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service is installed.

If my Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service is activated mid-month, will my bill be pro-rated?

Yes, your bill will be pro-rated.

Can I have more than one Astro PVR decoder in one home?

Customers living in landed properties can enjoy up to two Astro PVR decoders in different rooms in the same household while only customers residing in selected high-rise buildings can enjoy this service.  This is due technical limitations in certain apartments or condominiums.

You will have the same line-up of channels on the second Astro PVR decoder as the main PVR decoder; and viewers can watch 2 different channels in 2 separate rooms at the same time.

What are the charges for Multiroom?

The Multiroom service costs RM50 per month, no matter what your Astro primary subscription package is. There will not be additional installation charges for the second decoder.

If I do not opt for the Multiroom when I register for Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV, can I do so later?

Yes, you may apply for it at a later date by calling the dedicated Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV hotline at 03-9543 1543. Installation will take 14 days.

Can I have a third Astro PVR decoder in my home?

The Astro IPTV service supports up to 2 decoders only in the same household. If you wish to have more decoders in your home, you may subscribe to the regular Astro satellite TV service at the prevailing subscription rates. Installation fees for Astro satellite TV service with Multiroom may be applicable, depending on the prevailing promotions and offers.

What are the channels available on Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV ?

The channels available on Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV include all regular/linear Astro channels and HD (High Definition) channels and a wide range of VOD (Video on Demand) titles. Additional “Astro Select” HD Channels and VOD titles are available exclusively for Astro IPTV customers.

However, TVi (Ch180) is not available via the Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV package offering. You are advised to use Free-To-Air (FTA) cable (depending on building availability) to continue watching these channels.

Customers living in landed properties on selected network with hybrid installation will be able to enjoy TVi (Ch180).

What is most basic content package I can opt for in Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro B.yond IPTV?

The minimum content package that you can choose is the Family Pack at RM37.95 per month, which has up to 50 quality channels. For details on channels and the packages, please click here.

What is Astro Select For Maxis?

Astro Select For Maxis is a collection of 10 additional High Definition channels and up to 700 hours of Video On Demand titles that are available exclusively to Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV customers who subscribe to either Super Pack, Multiroom or the new Catch-Up TV and Astro-On-The-Go packs.

What are the additional High Definition channels in Astro Select for Maxis?

The additional HD channels are HBO Signature, HBO Hits, HBO Family, Comedy Central, WETV, Eurosport and Setanta Sports. More HD channels will be available from August 2013 onwards.

What is available in the Video On Demand titles?

The Video On Demand titles cover the following interest groups and they are available to Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV customers:

What is Catch-up TV?

Catch-up TV is a subscription service that allows you to access and watch a wide selection of previously-aired shows and Catch-up exclusive programmes depending on the content package you subscribe to. Customers can access a Catch-up TV video library which has more than 1,500 hours of programming via an internet-connected Astro PVR decoder.

Can I access Astro On-the Go on multiple devices using the same Astro ID?

You are entitled to two Astro IDs once you have subscribed to Astro On-The-Go and Catch-up TV service. However, each Astro ID allows access to only one device at one time.

I am an Astro customer with Astro On-the-Go; why does my content differ from that of my friend who is a non-Astro subscriber?

Astro TV Customers enjoy channels and programmes according to their package entitlements, while non-Astro customers can purchase packaged or individual channels and titles.

Does Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV come with Home Voice?

The Home Voice service is an optional service. It does not come with the Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service.

Do I receive a phone with the Home Voice service?

You will need to obtain your own telephone to use with the Home Voice service.

Can this service support fax?

To use the phone line for fax, plug the fax machine into your Residential Wi-Fi modem.

Can I change my Home Voice number?

Yes, you may but the number requested should be in the allocated range of numbers from Suruhanjaya Komunikasi & Multimedia. It costs RM25 to change your number and this can only be done at a Maxis Centre.

Can I request for an additional phone line?

For now, we are only able to provide you with a single line.

Can I carry forward my unused call credit to the following month?

No, the allocated monthly call credit cannot be carried forward.

What if I want to terminate my Home Voice service within the contract period?

The Home Voice service does not have a contract. You may terminate the Home Voice service at any time with no penalties imposed.

Who do I call if I need any assistance on Home Voice service?

You may call Maxis Customer Service at 1 800 82 4663 for assistance. 

If I do not subscribe to the Home Voice service when I sign up for Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV, can I subscribe to it later?

To subscribe to the Home Voice service after signing up for Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV, please visit your nearest Maxis Centre. There will be an installation fee of RM150, which will be included in the first bill for the Home Voice service.

I have Astro IPTV with TIME fibre broadband package; can I switch to Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV package?

If the primary broadband provider in your building is TIME dotcom, Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV package would not be available to you.

I’m a Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV customer. Can I upgrade or downgrade my current TV or fibre internet packages?

You can upgrade your Maxis Fibre Internet package to a higher speed without additional charges. It is also possible to downgrade your internet package to lower speeds with an administrative fee of RM20.

You can downgrade your Astro TV channel package but you would need to maintain a minimum subscription of RM37.95 per month for the Family Pack. There is an administrative charge of RM10 for this downgrade.

If I already have a broadband or fibre service from another provider under a contract, how can I enjoy Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV?

To avoid service disruption, it is advisable to terminate your existing broadband or fibre service only after you have activated your Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV. This can be done when your existing contract expires. Please be advised that you are responsible for terminating your existing broadband or fibre service, which includes returning the necessary devices.

That said, customers who live in certain high-rise buildings may need to terminate their existing broadband service first before activating their Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service due to technical limitations. To find out if this advice applies to your high-rise building, call Maxis Customer Service at 1 800 82 4663 for assistance.

If Maxis Fibre Internet connection is down, would I be able to watch Astro IPTV channels?

If the Maxis Fibre Internet connection is down, you would not be able to watch the Astro IPTV channels.

Customers living in landed properties on selected network will have hybrid installation where the Fibre cable and the Astro satellite dish will both be installed to give you the best experience and reliability of content and Internet services. In the future, the system will be able perform an auto-toggle between the 2 systems should there be any service disruption on either platform.

If Maxis Fibre Internet is down, would I be able to watch Video-On-Demand programmes that I have purchased or the programmes I have recorded on my PVR decoder?

You would be able to watch your purchased VOD titles provided they are within the validity period, and would you be able to watch the programmes recorded on your PVR decoder.

If Maxis Fibre Internet connection is down, would I be able to access Astro On-The-Go?

If you access Astro On-The-Go using Maxis Fibre Internet, you would not be able to enjoy the service if the fibre internet service is down. If you access it using mobile data, dongle or other devices, you should be able to enjoy Astro On-The-Go.

Would the Maxis Fibre Internet speed be impacted if it is also being used to watch IPTV?

The internet speed would not be impacted even though someone is using the fibre connection to watch IPTV. There are dedicated bandwidths for IPTV and broadband connection. That said, the fibre internet connection will be used when you download Video-On-Demand content.

What is the cost of the installation?

Standard installation costs RM300, which includes decoder installation. This amount can be waived if you choose to pay your monthly subscription fee via auto debit or make an advance payment of 6 or 12 months. The advance payment will be reflected in your first bill.

*Note: We do not accept cash payment upfront for installation fee. The installation fee will be reflected in the first bill if applicable.

What does standard Maxis Fibre installation by Maxis cover?

The standard installation fee of RM300 covers the first 85 metres of the cable (outside your home) from the nearest Fibre Distribution Panel to the Termination Box and the first 15 metres of cable (inside your home) from the Termination Box to the Access Termination Box.

The installation provided is of standard specifications, which is defined as over wall with clip or cable casing only.  Any cost associated with non-standard installations such as over the ceiling, underground ducts, concealed wiring and so on will be borne by the customer.

Some minor drilling may be required.

If I need to reschedule or cancel my installation appointment, will a penalty be imposed?

There is a charge of RM200 for change/cancellation of appointment if you make the request within 3 days of the original appointment. However, we will waive this fee for now.

How long does it take to install the Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service?

Astro will contact you in 2 to 5 days from your registration to schedule the installation appointment. Due to overwhelming demand, the installation may only take place several weeks from your date of registration.

Please be advised that half a day is required to complete the onsite IPTV and Fibre Internet installation. However, variations do occur due to customers’ availability and the building management’s approval for access.

What is the 10 business-days cooling-off period? How long do I have to wait for installation with this ruling?

The 10 business-days cooling-off period is applicable to customers with monthly subscription fees that are equal to or more than RM300.

These customers have the option of calling the Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV hotline at 03 9543 1543 to withdraw their application in the 10 business days following the registration date. If he or she does not withdraw the application during that time, the order will be submitted at the end of the cooling-off period, and installation will follow in the next few weeks.

If you wish to install and activate the service earlier, sign on the “Notice” section in the Sales Registration Form to acknowledge your waiver of the cooling-off period.

What is a hybrid installation?

A hybrid installation for Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV will include the installation of Astro PVR decoder, Residential WiFi Modem, Optical Network Terminal or Broadband Termination Unit, and an Astro satellite dish. The Astro PVR decoder will be connected to both the modem and satellite dish.

A hybrid installation is only available to customers living in landed properties on selected network.

I live in a landed property and I want the IPTV service. Why do you need to install a satellite dish?

This is a standard installation for landed properties on TM HSBB network taking up the Astro IPTV with Maxis Fibre Internet service. The Fibre cable and the Astro satellite dish will both be installed to give you the best experience and reliability of content and Internet services. In the future, the system will be able perform an auto-toggle between the 2 systems should there be any service disruption on either platform.

How is the hybrid installation done?

The Astro satellite dish will be installed on the rooftop, and the Astro PVR decoder will be connected to both the modem and satellite dish; and also to the HDMI input of your High Definition TV set.

Does hybrid installation involve additional charges?

There are no additional charges and installation of the hybrid Astro PVR decoder will be completed in the same appointment.

Will my Astro IPTV service be affected by rain?

If you are watching TVi (Ch180), you may experience temporary disruption during rainy days as the access is via the satellite dish. You can enjoy all the other Astro IPTV channels and video on demand content without being affected by rain.

If there is a disruption in the IPTV service, can I switch to use the satellite dish to watch my shows?

You would not be able to switch to using the satellite dish to watch your shows except for TVi.

If I want to terminate Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV but continue with Astro satellite TV, what happens?

I live in a high-rise building, why am I not able to have hybrid installation?

We are unable to offer a hybrid installation to customers in high-rise buildings due to certain technical limitations.

I live in a landed property that is wired with Maxis Fibre network. Why am I not able to have hybrid installation?

We are unable to offer a hybrid installation in this instance due to certain technical limitations.

What is the warranty period for the device?

The warranty period is 12 months for the Residential Gateway WiFi Modem. For the Optical Network Terminal or Broadband Termination Unit and Astro PVR decoder, we will provide service and support for as long as you maintain your subscription with us. Depending on the problems encountered for these devices, Astro service technicians will perform the necessary troubleshooting on site and replace the devices, if necessary to minimise disruption to Astro IPTV service.

What if the device(s) is faulty within the warranty period?

You may call our dedicated Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV hotline at 03 9543 1543 for assistance and our customer representative will advise you if servicing or replacement is necessary.

What if I lose or damage my Residential Gateway WiFi Modem and/or Astro PVR decoder?

You may call our Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV hotline at 03 9543 1543 to replace the devices. Our friendly personnel would be able to advise you on the price of the devices.

What if I were to move to another home within my contract period?

Call the Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV hotline at 03 9543 1543 to request for relocation assistance. You will need to provide documented proof of your relocation such as a utility bill for the new house that is addressed to you at the new address.

If we are able to offer Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV in the new location or if you wish to continue with Astro satellite TV service in your new home because IPTV service is not available, we will relocate the service for a fee of RM500. This fee will be reflected in your monthly bill and the contract period of 24 months will start anew from date of relocation.

If we are unable to offer either the IPTV service or Astro satellite TV service in the new location, a termination penalty will apply.

Can I request to move the IPTV devices to another spot in the house?

This is possible and the installer would be able to advise you on the cost of the non-standard installation after assessing your premises and request. These non-standard charges are to be paid to the installer directly.

I am currently subscribed to Maxis Fibre Internet service. Can I subscribe to the new Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service?

Yes. To do so, we will assist you to terminate your current Maxis Fibre Internet service and subscribe to the new Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service using a new registration form. You would need to sign the letter of consent, which will be submitted with the registration form for processing. No penalties will be imposed.

To avoid service disruption, the existing Maxis Fibre Internet service will not be terminated until the Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service is installed.

The contract period for the new Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service will be 24 months. 

What will happen to the devices that came with Maxis Fibre Internet service?

You will be given a new Residential WiFi Modem* but you can continue to use the same Optical Network Terminal or Broadband Termination Unit that was issued to you earlier. You may keep your existing Residential WiFi Modem. If you received a DECT phone previously with the Maxis Fibre Internet service, you can continue to use it. 

*You will have a new WiFI ID and password.

I am currently subscribed to Astro DTH (satellite). Can I subscribe to the new Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service?

Yes, if you are an existing Astro DTH (satellite) customer and lives within the Fibre Internet coverage area, you can migrate to this IPTV service. You can subscribe to Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV at the Maxis Centres, Maxis Exclusive Partners (MEPs) and authorized dealers or via Maxis telesales number, 1800 82 4663.

What will happen to my existing Astro decoder?

You will be given a new Astro PVR decoder. If you have any recorded content in your existing Astro PVR decoder, we would not be able to transfer it to the new decoder, the content will be lost.

I have the Astro satellite TV service and I want Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV. If the monthly subscription fee for IPTV service is RM300, will I enjoy the cooling-off period?

The 10-business day cooling-off period is applicable to all customers with monthly subscription fees that are equal to or more than RM300.

I live in a high-rise building and I’m currently subscribed to the 20Mbps/30Mbps Maxis Fibre Internet service. Will I be able to maintain my current speed if I switch to the Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service?

Due to technology limitations, selected high-rise buildings will not be able to enjoy the Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service with 20Mbps or 30Mbps speeds, regardless of the fibre internet speeds you currently enjoy. To check your coverage, please click here.

When I migrate over to Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV, what happens to my existing Home Voice package with free minutes?

The Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service does not come with a Home Voice package. Subscribers have the option of subscribing to the new Home Voice plan separately and retain the existing phone number.

The existing free bundled minutes will no longer be available.

Are there any charges for the separate Home Voice service?

There is a monthly charge of RM20 if you opt to take up the Home Voice service. You will receive RM30 worth of call credit, which can be used to call any local or international number, and enjoy unlimited calls to Maxis fixed lines.

If I subscribe to fibre internet packages with higher speeds, will my monthly call credit increase?

No. The monthly RM30 call credit is fixed regardless of the fibre internet package you choose.

How will I be billed?

You will receive 2 bills in total. One from Astro for the Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service and another from Maxis for the Home Voice service.

Can I suspend the service within the contract period?

We regret to inform that you would not be able to suspend the Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV service due to commercial and contractual obligations that do not cater for suspension.

How can I terminate the service?

You may call our dedicated Maxis Fibre Internet with Astro IPTV hotline at 03-9543 1543 to terminate the service. If you were to terminate the service within the 24-month contract period, you will be subject to a penalty of RM2,400, pro-rated to the number of months left on the contract.

What if I am not a Malaysian and I would like to terminate the service within the contract period because I am going back to my country?

If I terminate the service, do I need to return the devices?

You are required to return the Optical Network Terminal or Broadband Termination Unit, Astro PVR decoder and satellite dish. Our installers will arrange to pick up the equipment from your home. Customers who fail to return the equipment will be charged RM500.

If I want to terminate the service and continue with Astro satellite TV service only, do I need to return the devices?

If you live in a landed property and had the Astro satellite dish installed, our installer will collect the Optical Network Terminal or Broadband Termination Unit from you. You will retain the satellite dish and Astro PVR decoder so that you can continue with Astro satellite TV service.

If you are staying in a high rise building, our installer will collect the Optical Network Terminal or Broadband Termination Unit from you. Your Astro PVR decoder will be connected to the central satellite dish so you may continue with Astro satellite TV service.
