Who is eligible for these plans?

These plans are available for new registrations only and for Malaysians and non-Malaysians over the age of 18 years.

How many plans can I subscribe to?

Each customer can sign up for up to 5 plans per individual identification card (Malaysian IC)/Passport.

How to choose the plan?

Choose your plan based on:

  • Your preferred volume quota requirement and/or
  • Your preferred modem type
How long is the contract period?

There is a 12 month contract for plans with modems.

Is there a cooling period for these plans?

Effective 24 March 2014, there will be no more 7 days cooling off period for all Wireless Internet plans return. This means should you decide to return the Wireless Internet devices, we will treat it as a termination within contract period.

Can I get a plan without modem?

No. Plans without modem are only available for Wireless Broadband service.

What does it mean by 5GB+15GB plan?

Wireless Internet plans come with 2 allocations of quotas, one from 8am to 2am and the other from 2am to 8am. 5GB + 15GB means you get 5GB quota to use from 8am to 2am and 15GB quota from 2am to 8am.

If I signed up the 20GB package (5GB + 15GB), can the 5GB Internet Quota be used throughout the whole day?

No, the 5GB Internet Quota is only applicable for 8am - 2am.
The 15GB quota is applicable for 2am - 8am.

What happens if my internet session crosses over from one period to another e.g. from 1am to 3am?

The relevant quota will be deducted accordingly in the different allocations. 
E.g. If 1GB was used from 1am - 2am, 1GB will be deducted from quota balance in the 8am to 2am allocation and if 2GB was used from 2am - 3am, 2GB will be deducted from the 2am to 8am allocation.

What happens if there isn't a good signal for the Wireless Internet service at home? Can I get a refund?

If you are not able to get good signal for the Wireless Internet service, you can cancel service within 7 days from date of activation and a refund for  your activation fee of RM150 and device fee (if applicable), if you return the modem with the complete set in good condition.

Any usages incurred for the voice service or quota purchase will not be subjected to any waiver.

Is there a special promotion for OKU (Physically Challenged)?

Yes, OKU will get 50% discount for all Wireless Internet plans.

How can I check my quota usage?

You may track your data usage via MyAccount portal by visiting www.maxis.com.my/myaccount.

What is the MyAccount portal?

This portal is to ease managing your Wireless Internet portal. You can now:

  • manage your profile
  • track your internet usage
  • view, pay and track you bills
  • download Value Added Services such as Internet Security
  • upgrade or change your existing package
What is the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) for my Maxis Wireless Internet service? What happens if I exceed my FUP?

Fair Usage Policy (FUP) is to ensure all customers can get good browsing experience and to prevent abusers from hogging the bandwidth, which can impact other user experience.

If you have breached your allocated quota, your internet speed will be managed to ensure other users are not impacted. 

All plans are managed to 128kbps.


What happens when I reach my quota?

Every Wireless Internet plan has a monthly quota limit. When you reach it, your broadband connection will be managed to a lower speed. All plans are managed to 128kbps.

When you quota exceeds 80% of your quota volume, an SMS notification will be sent to your Can-Be-Reached (CBR) mobile number or your Wireless Internet number as a reminder.

How can I enjoy regular internet speeds after exceeding the allocated quota?

If you have reached your allocated quota before the next billing cycle, you can enjoy surfing at normal speeds by purchasing additional quota via MyAccount portal (maxis.com.my/myaccount)

How many times can I purchase an additional quota to increase my quota balance in a month?

You may purchase additional quota as many times as you want in a month.

How do I pay to purchase the additional quota balance?

The charges for quota purchased will be billed into your next monthly statement.

Can I transfer unused quota balance to others?

No, quota cannot be transferred to another party.

I have 1GB of unused quota balance and I want to terminate the service. Will I get a refund?

No, quota is not exchangeable for cash or refund.

Can I switch my current Wireless Broadband package to this Wireless Internet package?

No. We do not allow change of package between Wireless Broadband and Wireless Internet at the moment.

Can I upgrade/downgrade my existing service?

You are able to upgrade your service via MyAccount Portal (maxis.com.my/myaccount). Please register with your Wireless Internet SIM card number and the NRIC number you registered with. Your contract period will continue. To downgrade, please walk into any Maxis Centre or call 1800 82 2000.

If I upgrade/downgrade my service, would my device also change?

Device change will be dependent on the package that you subscribe to.

Is there any fee charged to upgrade/downgrade my Wireless Internet service?

There will be no fee charged for the upgrade. There is a handling fee of RM50 for downgrade request. There will also be a device fee if you downgrade from a plan that has a higher end device to a plan that has a lower end device.

I am about to complete my existing 12 months contract, what will happen next?

You can continue subscribing to the service after the 12 months contract ends.

I am returning the devices to a Maxis Centre and would like to cancel my contract due to the bad coverage at my house. Will I be charged for the premature termination?

Please provide description of the problem and details of your usage or attempted usage to the staff at any of our Maxis Centres and he/she will put in a request for you. If the request is valid, the Centre will have the authority to act accordingly.

How many devices can be used concurrently with the Wireless 7.2 Mbps WiFi modem or 21 Mbps WiFi modem?

Up to 32 devices, but the quality of the connection will be affected when more devices are connected simultaneously to the same modem.

Is the 21 Mbps WiFi modem compatible with Windows 8?

Yes

How do I install the SIM card, modem and phone?

If you would like a Maxis representative to install the SIM card, we will have to break the seal. If you install it yourself, follow these instructions. Before inserting or removing the SIM card, please power off or unplug the device:

  1. Remove the card cover.
  2. Slide the SIM card into the card slot with the gold contact facing downward.
  3. Replace the card cover.

*The User Quick Guide covers the installation of the devices provided. Besides that, the devices are preconfigured with Maxis settings whereby Customers are just required to perform physical installation only (connect the device to power supply and turn on WiFi on your PC/Laptop to get connected to the internet). The SSID and password are printed on the bottom of the modem.

If I have a cordless phone of a different brand which supports voice services, can I use it as an extension?

We recommend that you use the DECT phone provided by Maxis so that we may assist with the configuration. We will not be able to provide the same assurance with other cordless phone brands.

For the 21 Mbps WiFi modem , only the provided phone can be used together with the modem.

If the DECT phone is faulty within the warranty period, what should I do?

Please walk-in to your nearest Maxis centre to report the fault. The Maxis Centre executive will help you with the replacement after evaluating the problem.

For the 21 Mbps WiFi modem, you would need to replace the complete set (phone, modem and all accessories), if any part is faulty within the warranty period.

What if I lost my Wi-Fi modem or DECT phone?

For loss of devices, customers would be charged a fee of RM250 for the 7.2Mbps WiFi Modem and RM50 for the phone.

For the 21 Mbps WiFi modem, the complete set is replaceable at RM300 and cannot be replaced separately.

What if my Wi-Fi modem is faulty during the warranty period?

You may replace the modem by walking into any of our Maxis Centres. The first and second replacement of the modem due to technical fault is free.

For 7.2 Mbps WiFi modem:

Third replacement onwards for the modem will be charged a fee of RM250.
As for the phone,  fee of RM50 will be charged for the third replacement onwards.

For 21 Mbps WiFi modem:

Third replacement onwards will be charged a fee of RM300 for the complete set. Partial replacement is not allowed as the phone comes pre-paired with the router.

What if the DECT phone is faulty/lost after the 12-months warranty period? Can I purchase a replacement from Maxis?

Currently we do not support the selling of DECT phones. You may purchase it directly from our distributor:

For 21 Mbps WiFi modem, the phone set is not available for sale currently. Please replace the complete set at any Maxis Centre.

For 7.2 Mbps WiFi modem, it is recommended to use any GAP compliant DECT phone from Aztech, Motorola and Panasonic.

What do I do if I need public IP assignment?

Please call our hotline at 1 800 82 1123 and our customer care consultant will assist you.

Can I change my phone number?

You can change the phone number but there will be a charge of RM25.

Can I request to have an additional phone line and number from this package?

Not at this point in time. For now, we only provide you with a single phone line.

Can I carry forward the balance of my voice minutes to the following month?

No, the minutes under Home Voice service cannot be carried forward. Therefore, we recommend that you fully utilize the free minutes from this package every month.

If I terminate the Wireless Internet subscription, do I need to return the modem?
  • If you cancel the service within the contract period, you will be subjected to a penalty of RM300 if you do not return all the parts and accessories in good working condition including the packaging. The penalty charge of RM300 will be waived if the complete set, all the parts and accessories including packaging, are returned in good working condition.
  • If you terminate the service after the contract period of 12 months, you can keep the modem at no additional cost.
